Penndel Fire Company Chief Chuck Fox said volunteer firefighters arrived around 10:20 p.m. to find flames coming from the tractor portion of the truck that was pulled over on the I-95 northbound ramp that leads to East Lincoln Highway. He told LevittownNow.com flames were licking the tank that was filled with gasoline.

Crews sprayed foam and were able to bring the blaze under control within about 30 minutes of arriving.

The driver of the truck was unharmed and talking with investigators.

Portions of I-95 and East Lincoln Highway were closed while crews handled the fire.

Bensalem, Bristol Township, Falls, Langhorne and all of Middletown’s fire companies responded to the scene. The Bucks County Hazmat Team and Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad also responded to the call along with police.

Both Fox and Richards noted it was luck that the fire did not lead to a major explosion.
