A man who led Bucks County, New Jersey and federal law enforcement officials on a car chase Tuesday afternoon was wanted for threatening to blow up a courthouse in Trenton, officials confirmed.
According to a statement and spokesperson for the Mercer County, New Jersey Sheriff’s Department, members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service New York-New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Jermaine McCain, 36, of Trenton, following a car chase that ended Tuesday afternoon in Penndel.

Bucks County authorities said the chase started in Bensalem, traveled on Route 1 in Middletown and ended with a crash at the corner of West Lincoln Highway and Hulmeville Avenue in Penndel around 4:15 p.m. Several vehicles, including a New Jersey police SUV, were damaged in the chase. No injuries were reported.

A detective with knowledge of the case told NJ.com reporter Kevin Shea that McCain threatened to blow up the courthouse last week because he had “things to do” and could not show up to a scheduled appearance.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said in a statement that an extensive investigation determined McCain had made the call and was evading law enforcement.

On Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement found out he was in Bucks County and made their move.
Penndel police told LvittownNow.com they were investigating to see whether they would file any crash-related charges against McCain.

The chase not only caused the crash in Penndel but another crash along Route 1, a police source confirmed to LevittownNow.com.
At the crash scene Tuesday afternoon, police from Bensalem, Langhorne, Penndel and Middletown were there along with with a group of New Jersey authorities.
A New Jersey law enforcement official said the arrest was the result of team work and the efforts of the task force.

McCain is held in Bucks County prison awaiting additional charges.
