The four-hour educational, solutions-based event is geared specifically for human resources professionals and also features peer-to-peer talks, roundtable sessions and discussions on team building, employment law, employee engagement, social recruiting, firing and exit interviews, financial services and more.
“Every topic that we’re covering is so timely and important,” RecruitmentQueen President and CEO Jennifer Schultz said. “Our goal is to have as many HR professionals from the Bucks County area attend the event as possible.”
Buch, who retired from McCafferty in 2014 after 30 years at the business – to discover soon after that he was not ready to retire – will discuss how to “Drive Employee Engagement and Retention.”

“Employee retention and engagement is ultimately an ongoing problem and it’s an opportunity,” Buch said. “The people who do it right are the ones that are the most effective companies.”
At McCafferty, doing it right meant recognizing employee achievements in and outside of the workplace, remembering birthdays, celebrating milestone anniversaries and the birth of children and lending support during tough times such as a death in the family or lengthy power outages following Hurricane Sandy several years ago.

In the aftermath of the natural disaster, Buch said McCafferty put up 100 employees who had lost power and paid staff even when the business was unable to open.
“It’s small things like that that I think make the difference,” he said. “People that are appreciated are more likely to feel engaged.”
In addition to Buch, six other speakers with human resources expertise will lead discussions at the event, which is being held on Oct. 15 in partnership with the Bensalem campus of Gwynedd Mercy University and the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
