The Bristol Township School District will spend up to $14,600 to examine options for the district’s middle schools.

The feasibility study that will be executed by Schrader Group Architecture will look at the Benjamin Franklin School in Levittown, Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School in Bristol and Neil A. Armstrong Middle School in Fairless Hills.

Board member Jim Baker said the schools were studied several years back, but a new evaluation needs to be done so the board can make further decisions.

When the district first introduced its facilities plan in 2012, the district proposed closing Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School and renovating Neil A. Armstrong Middle School and the Benjamin Franklin School that is currently used as an administration building and temporarily houses Mary Devine Elementary School students. As bond money was eaten up by the district’s three new elementary schools, plans to consolidate and update the middle schools were pushed. Since then, no firm plans for the aging middle schools has been announced.

Board member Earl Bruck said several options for the middle schools will be considered and investigated by Schrader Group.
