The 48th Mill Street Run was deemed a success by organizers on Saturday, continuing its tradition of avoiding rain despite dubious weather reports.
“I’m pleased the way things are going. We have a very enthusiastic group of coaches and athletes here this year,” explained John Mundy, the organizer and founder of the Mill Street Run.

A number of high schools from the region had varsity teams attending the races including Bristol, Conwell-Egan, Archbishop Ryan, Neshaminy, Lower Moreland, Jenkintown, Villa-Joseph Marie, New Hope and Pennsbury sent their teams.
“I really admire and appreciate Pennsbury’s support,” Mundy explained. He added that even though the varsity team from Pennsbury had another race on Saturday morning, a coach and the junior varsity squad were present at the run.
The open run, which was supposed to begin at 9:45 a.m., ended up being delayed by 20 minutes to accommodate late entries. By the time everyone registered, there were 99 runners.

Many of the runners making up the bulk of the open race runners have been through the Mill Street Run as high school students before. “It means something to them, to come back and take part in this,” explained Mundy of the returning runners.
During the race, the sides of Mill Street were lined with Mill Street business owners and residents showing support for the athletes and the long running race.
