In the last days of August, Middletown police took reports of 11 thefts from vehicles in the neighborhoods surrounding St. Mary Medical Center.
As of Friday night,ย Chief of Policeย Joseph Bartorilla said the thefts from unlocked vehicles appeared to have stopped. All the theftsย happened between August 29 and August 31 and mainly involved the suspect(s) taking cash or gift cards.

Bartorilla said he wasn’t sure if the thefts were a limited event or stepped up saturation patrols scared off the suspect(s).
Residents are asked by police to take valuables out of their vehicles and lock them at night.
