A Middletown group ofย cloistered nuns are working to produce 100,000 Communion hosts for Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to Philadelphia.
The roughly dozen nuns, known as the Poor Clares of Langhorne, are working extra shifts to fulfill the huge order that is coming due in less than a month, according to a 6abc story that aired Tuesday night.

“Our sisters were feeling special just packing the breads and knowing that these will be blessed by the pope and consecrated by the pope,” Sister Anne said.
The nuns, who mostly stay on their 17-acre campus and devote their life to the Catholic church, work inside the Monastery of Saint Clare, which is tucked behind a row of trees next to St. Mary Medical Center. A schedule posted online by the monastery shows the nuns live a very ritualistic and simple life.
