The day after Austin Scott Bilton’s 21st birthday, he found himself locked up on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and drug paraphernalia.
The Levittown resident was arrested after a Middletown police detective allegedly watched him break into his parent’s Quaker Hill Road last Wednesday afternoon.

Detective David Strother was watching the Quaker Hill Road home in relation to a drug investigation when he observed Bilton and a female friend exit the house and walk away. Over the next several minutes, Bilton returned and entered and exited the house several more times, possibly removing items, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
After a check of a law enforcement database, Strother learned Bilton’s family recently reported an iPad, a Samsung tablet, a GoPro camera and cellphone stolen. A follow-up phone call with Bilton’s mother revealed he was not permitted to enter the house and they changed the locks to try to keep him out, police said.
Bilton was arrested without incident near his parents’ house, police said.

Strother noted in court documents that a laptop and charger, which belonged to his sister, were found in the car Bilton drove to Quaker Hill Road. Two syringes and baggies commonly used to package heroin were found the vehicle, the detective said.
Bilton told Strother he ended up taking items from his family three times in recent weeks. The items were valued at over $2,000, court papers state.
