โ€œHeroin has a stranglehold on our communities,โ€ Weintraub said during a similar presentation last year. โ€œWhat weโ€™re experiencing nowadays is the heroin epidemic encroaching on a lot of different peoples lives.โ€

Bucks County officials and local police have stepped up their efforts over the past year to get heroin off the streets. The ramped up drug enforcement work began after a record number of overdoes across the county.

The assistant district attorney has previously said many heroin addicts start with prescription medications and move to โ€œdirt cheapโ€ heroin that is sold within the region.
