Officially launched in January, Calm Waters had a website, sold coffee online and to businesses. Until recently, all of Calm Waters’ coffee was roasted on a sample roaster, meant only for small amounts of coffee.

Andrew worked in coffee for eight years and immediately discovered a passion for coffee and the community that the coffee atmosphere fosters.

“We just got to a point where, more and more, we were thinking we could do our own thing,” Andrew explained.

The storefront is a huge step for Calm Waters, Andrew explained. Even if it isn’t the culmination, Andrew and Jodi have no plans for “moving on” to another venture; Calm Waters is here to stay.

“We couldn’t have done it on our own,” Andrew explained, citing the support and help from family and friends that the company has received towards realizing the vision.

Calm Waters roasts their own beans in house, and in addition to selling a myriad of different coffee based drinks, they also sell their beans, t-shirts and mugs with the Calm Water branding.

Andrew is a Bucks County native, growing up in Newtown and finally moving to Bristol Borough with Jodi and their daughter Macy.

A huge draw to Bristol, according to Andrew, is the small town feeling that the town retains. “[It’s] a place where you can get to know your neighbors, and your neighbors care about you,” Andrew mused.

The neighborly love has been apparent for the staff at Calm Waters.

“We’ve been extremely supported. The community is so behind us,” Andrew said.

Community involvement is also ingrained into the company’s DNA. The company’s mission statement – “it’s about more than just great coffee” – is an overarching statement that umbrellas the core values of the company; Taking time to appreciate the good things in life, loving your neighbors, and growing as a community.

“I feel like Bristol totally gets that,” Andrew said in reference to their mission statement and core values.
