Bristol Twp. Resident Nominated To Army Position By Obama


Bristol Township resident Patrick Murphy has been nominated to becomeย  under secretary of the Army by President Barack Obama.

The announcement came Wednesday afternoon in a press release from the White House. Murphy, a former local congressman and Iraq War veteran, has remained involved in military causes during his time in office and following it.

Murphy is currently a partner in the Philadelphia-based law firm of Fox Rothschild LLP, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and host on news-talk cable channel MSNBC.

“Murphy served in the Army and Army Reserve for eight years prior to his political career. From 2003 to 2004, he deployed to Iraq as a paratrooper with the Armyโ€™s 82nd Airborne Division, where he earned the Bronze Star. ย He also deployed to Bosnia in 2002,” according to an Army Times story.

The under secretary position is the second-highest ranking civilian position in the Army.
