A district judge dropped all charges filed against a Philadelphia man originally accused of being involved in an assault that started over a bag of dog poop.

Stephen Vesotsky, 38, had charges of robbery, simple assault, reckless endangerment, theft and other offenses dismissed against him late last month when he came before District Judge John Kelly. Leading up to the preliminary hearing where all charges were dropped, the 38-year-old was free on unsecured bail, according to court records.

Neighbors at the Harper’s Crossing condo complex in Middletown told police in January they believe Vesotsky was upset at their new puppy and threw a bag of dog poop at their door. When the parties went to talk, the couple said they confronted Vesotsky about the bag of poop and he allegedly assaulted the couple and took the woman’s cellphone after she said she recorded the assault

Vesotsky, who was contacted by police at the hospital, claimed his actions were in self defense and denied the dog poop incident and cellphone theft, according to court papers.

Officers wrote in court papers that they observed blood splattered on the walls, pavement, staircase and doors outside a condo.
