A 20-year-old woman who was in the Jeep was killed in the crash, an emergency official told LevittownNow.com.

NBC10.com reported the woman was heading back to New Jersey from “American Idol” auditions at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia when the crash happened. Police told the TV station the woman had her “American Idol” ticket in her pocket at the time of the crash.

Firefighters were called back out to the scene late Sunday night to assist with lighting for investigators.

Crews from Parkland, Penndel, Langhorne-Middletown, William Penn and Yardley-Makefield fire companies responded along with several ambulance squads.

The crash, which happened around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, involvedย several people ejected from at least one vehicle, according to reports. An article on 6abc.com stated six people were injured.

The wreck happened on the highway between the Route 1 interchange in Middletown and the Yardley-Newtown Road interchange in Lower Makefield.

A mangled vehicle sat in the median of the highway after the crash. State police and local firefighters were on the scene.

Traffic in both directions was backed up due to the crash.
