Returning to Bucks County for the eighth consecutive year, the Patriot Games Lacrosse Tournament will bring approximately 120 teams from 10 different states to the area for a two-day tournament, July 18-19.

2,400 athletes from all over the country, including Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, New York and more will travel to Bucks County for the competitive tournament for boysโ€™ ages 8 through 18. New York alone, the primary focus of Visit Bucks Countyโ€™s advertising campaign, will bring approximately 30 teams to the county this weekend.

Nineteen hotels in Bensalem, Langhorne, Warrington, Levittown, and Warminster will provide lodging for athletes, coaches and their families.

What does this all mean? Major economic impact for Bucks County! According to Tourism Economics and Visit Philadelphia (2013 data), visitor spending in Bucks County generates:

  • $895 million in local economic impact
  • $122 million in federal, state and local taxes
  • Tourism supports 11,670 jobs locally

Organizers continue to bring the tournament back to Bucks County year after year.

โ€œThe Patriot Games is widely regarded as a premier tournament in the heart of beautiful Bucks Countyโ€”a convenient forum at the crossroads of major lacrosse hotbeds, including Maryland, New England, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania,โ€ said Scott Growney, co-director of the Patriot Games. โ€œWe schedule our brackets so that teams either play a morning or afternoon schedule, which is in contrast to the many tournaments that schedule games all day and force teams to stay on site.ย We encourage teams to take time to explore the area, including possible day trips, whether to New Hope, Doylestown, Washington Crossing State Park or other Bucks County attractions and towns.โ€

Visit Bucks County and the Bucks County Sports Commissionโ€™s efforts to attract more tournaments and sports events to the county continue to grow. This past spring, Bucks County welcomed more than 1,000 people to the area for the United States Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs (USACFC) National Championships and this fall, the county will host the inaugural Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival.
