Housing Development Could Overtake 168-Acre Farm

A large housing development could be coming to a 168-acre bucolic farmstead in Middletown.

Metropolitan Development Group submitted early plans for single-family homes to Middletown officials but pulled them before a scheduled July 1 Planning Commission meeting. The plans proposed building 122 homes on the large farm that sits off Langhorne-Newtown Road across from the George School.

Middletown Zoning Director Pat Duffy said in late June that the plans did not include engineering and were “very preliminary.”

Residents who live around the Stone Meadows Farm property will be notified if new plans are submitted and a proposed development is on the Planning Commission’s agenda.

Officials from Metropolitan Development Group did not return a message for comment that was left on Monday.

The new development would be one of the largest constructed in Middletown in several years.
