Hundreds of residents lined the sides of Trenton Road Saturday to celebrateย Independence Day and those who fought duringย World War II. The crowd was gathered for Middletown Township’s annual Fourth of July parade.
Despite skies which looked as though they might open up at the first opportunity, the parade in Middletown drew a sizable crowd of locals.

Jean, who moved into Highland Park in the late 1950s, has been coming to the parade for a few years. “It’s a local, small town parade,” the longtime residentย explained why she enjoyed coming to the parade.
The parade explicitly lives up to the local nature touted by the attendees of the event. Local World War II veterans were present, local boy scout troops, local music troops, and more were all present to make merry on the celebrated birthday of the nation.
“It’s something they should have. It honors the military, boy scouts and everybody that serves the community,” Emil Nahm, a resident of Middletown since 1998.

“I think it’s a good little parade, nothing fancy, but it’s just enough,” Nahm added.
