A bloodied 53-year-old Bristol Borough man was taken into police custody at gunpoint Thursday morning following an altercation, authorities said.
According to court papers, Sgt. Carlos Rivera was dispatched to the 1000 block of Beaver Street in Bristol for a fight and advised of a man with a “large” knife. While responding to the scene, Rivera saw a bloodied man matching the police radio description who appeared to be concealing something.

Rivera quickly stopped his patrol vehicle, pulled his service pistol and ordered the man – identified as Roger Mangold – to drop the knife and get on the ground, police said. The suspect reportedly listened and was taken into custody without incident.
Up the street from where Mangold was arrested, Rivera saw two people who were bleeding. He spoke with them and they advised they were involved in an incident with Mangold, court papers stated.
Mangold’s sister said she called him over because of a dispute with her boyfriend and a fight broke out between the two men, according to police, who noted Mangold’s sister said she was fell during the alleged altercation.

The injured man said Mangold pulled the knife on him and slashed toward him during the incident.
The man and Mangold’s sister were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The man suffered a large laceration to his arm, police said.

Mangold was arraigned late Thursday afternoon on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
The 53 year old is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. on July 15.
