Firefighters worked for more than an hour to free a truck driver trapped after his rig overturned.
Authorities responded to the Tyburn Road off ramp that leads to Pennsylvania Avenue at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday for the crash.

Falls Township Fire Company Chief Mike McClellan said firefighters cut into the cab, ripped out seats and the steering wheel to free the driver of the tractor-trailer. A wrecker truck from Penndel Towing and Recovery was used to help firefighters who were working with tools to try to cut out the driver. After working for an hour and nine minutes, the truck driver stood up after being cut out.
“He was able to stand up and walk away,” McClellan said. “How he wasn’t hurt more is a miracle.”
The driver of the truck was not seriously hurt in the crash but was transported to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.

McClellan praised firefighters for their effort during the rescue operation.
Traffic in the area of the crash was blocked while the rescue operation was underway.

Falls Township Fire Company was able to have a truck to the scene quickly after the dispatch because one of their apparatus was already headed to a brush fire, McClellan said.
Crews from Levittown Fire Company No. 1, Morrisville Fire Company and Tullytown Fire Company assisted the Falls Township Fire Company. The Morrisville Ambulance Squad also responded to the scene.
