Police said the highway reopened around 2:30 p.m. but delays persisted.

Southbound Route 1 by Neshaminy High School was blocked Friday afternoon due to an overturned oil tanker.

The truck overturned around 2 p.m. and caused a heavy traffic build up, according to PennDOT. Middletown police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said drivers should avoid Route 1 between Langhorne and the Neshaminy Creek.

The chief said there was no immediate spill from the overturned oil tanker. Police and firefighters were at the scene.

A tow service was called and was responding as of 2:20 p.m.
