Tim Nelson is taking a risk. He recently moved to the Levittown area from northern Virginia and opened the new McDonald’s restaurant at the corner of Veterans Highway (Route 413) and Bath Road in Bristol Township.
This Saturday, the eatery will host its grand opening and hold events for the community. Following an 11 a.m. presentation of the flags by the Levittown VFW and a ceremonial ribbon cutting, a check will be presented to the Newportville Fire Company and a community block party will start. A McDonald’s spokeswoman said the block party will feature a moon bounce, a DJ, karaoke, face painting and deals on select popular McDonald’s menu items.

Nelson, a 20-year Air Force veteran, said the Bristol Township location is his first McDonald’s franchise.
The restaurant, which replaces an older location down the street, was built earlier this year but sat empty for several months.
Nelson said the delay was caused because McDonald’s gave him time to work with other successful franchise owners to learn how to operate the multinational company’s newest location.

“We’re ready to go,” he said.
