The Memorial Day parade in Croydon has been a tradition for many years and the residents of State Road treat the event asย such.
Jim Murray of Croydon has been attending the parade for about 12 years. Murray lives on State Road where the parade runs, so seeing it is an easy and traditional task.
“We don’t go to the parade. The parade comes to us,” Murray joked as the parade kicked off on the corner of Cedar and State roads.
Murray was with his two children waiting for the parade to start. Jim, 10, and Logan, 5 said they liked to pick up the candy different floats threw and liked to hear the veterans firing the blanks during the parade.
Community is also a huge component of the Croydon Memorial Day parade. According to Murray, everyone in Croydon recognizes someone in the parade.
The parade was hosted by Joseph A. Schumacher VFW Post 1597.
