Police from around the area descended on Lower Bucks County to remember Lower Makefield Detective Denise Siano.
The detective passed away Sunday after a 10-year battle with breast cancer.

Siano, a 45-year-old Bristol Borough resident, had her viewing in Bristol Township and her funeral service at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Bristol Borough on Friday. Following services and escort of dozens of police vehicles, Siano was laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. At the cemetery, two ladder trucks from Bensalem and Lower Makefield fire companies hung a large American flag at the entrance.
“She loved helping people. Her never-ending smile, friendly demeanor and laughter gave little indication of her illness and her suffering. Her strength and courage was an inspiration to all of us,” Lower Makefield Chief Kenneth Coluzzi said in a statement.
Siano worked as a Bucks County dispatcher and joined the Lower Makefield Police Department in 2002. She obtained the rank of detective in 2010 and worked on the South-Central Bucks Special Response Team as a hostage negotiator.

Denise would like to express a heart-felt special thanks to My Brothers in Blue from Lower Makefield Township, Chief Coluzzi, Fab Catoni, Steve Ferri, Glen Hamilton (retired), Brian Golder, Brian Omlor, Mike Pell, and Pennsylvannia State Trooper Christopher Tavernier, and in addition, Donna and Mike Girard, Dr. Crystal Denlinger, Karen Martyn, P.A., and the nurses and doctors from Fox Chase Cancer Center.
“Denise was a true fighter who treasured life, her family, and being a member of the Lower Makefield Police Department,” the chief noted.
