$2 Million In Funding Secured For Falls Data Center

More than a dozen people traveled out to the Keystone Industrial Port Complex in Falls Township on Thursday afternoon to learn about a special financing partnership between the Bucks County Industrial Development Authority and the Bucks County Board of Commissioners.

The partnership, as announced on Thursday in the KIPC boardroom, will include $2 million in financing for Keystone NAP.

Keystone NAP, which received building approval from the Falls Board of Supervisors last year, will provide a state of the art data center right in Falls Township.

According to the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Keystone NAP Shawn Carey, the data center will be the first of it’s kind in the Northeast.

Keystone NAP, in addition to utilizing the electrical energy infrastructure already within the old United States Steel motor room, will provide modular infrastructure to it’s customers – which allows it to expand it’s building as it earns more customers, and helps keep each customer’s data secure in it’s own individualized modular casing.

The partnership, which will include $2 million in direct financing and loan guarantees, will help Keystone NAP address the under-served Mid-Atlantic market.

“Keystone NAP will bridge a crucial technology gap on the east coast,” said Chairman of the Bucks County Commissioners Robert Loughery. “This investment of $2 million in public funds will not only leverage nearly $20 million in private funding, but will light up the entire KIPC complex and beyond with unparalleled network  connectivity of an advanced data center.”

The company native to the area, which has been using primarily local contractors, will help bring an estimated 100 jobs to the area over the next three years.

For Chair of the Bucks County Industrial Development Authority Mary Smithson, that is a much-needed benefit. “It’s fabulous,” she said. “Bringing production jobs, improving the economy and providing a positive flow for the county of Bucks – it’s been wonderful partnering with the commissioners.”

Keystone NAP – which is nearly done completing the roof of it’s building, is expected to turn power on in the next couple of weeks.

“Once we get going, we will take off like a rocket,” Carey said.
