Just like the geese, Falls Township is gearing up to spend money on another one of the township nuisances: mosquitoes.

On Tuesday, the Falls Twp. Board of Supervisors heard a presentation by Clarke Mosquito, the company which has helped to combat the township’s issue for the last several years. At the supervisors meeting, the board awarded $11,600 to Clarke Mosquito for services in 2015.

According to Vice Chairman Jeffry Dence, Falls is one of the only townships in the county that arranges for it’s own services during mosquito season.

According to a representative from the company, getting information out to residents even faster about when spraying will occur will help assure less issues.

While mosquitoes are an issue the township will never fully combat, Dence said it’s part of the residents’ responsibility to ensure they are doing whatever possible on their own property. According to Dence, standing water is one of the biggest issues.
