A Bristol Township School Board member unexpectedly announced her immediate resignation Monday evening.

Board member Patricia Koszarek stepped down after several years on the governing body. She cited the quick sale sale of her Bristol Township house as the reason for her resignation.

“I love Bristol Township,” she said after the meeting. “I’ve lived here for my whole life, except two years I spent in the borough.”

Koszarek said she is moving to Delaware, which will put her closer to her children and their families.

Koszarek spoke of the contract negotiations the district faces and also the financial challenges ahead. “We have dedicated staff, dedicated students, but we do not have money,” she said.

The outgoing board member also took a shot at the township council and said they have “hindered our ability” to smoothly build three new elementary schools.

Koszarek’s term on the board runs out at the end of this year. She was not listed on county documents as running again. The school board will now have 30 days to fill her seat.
