Tullytown Borough is looking to add a memorial to Main Street.
The memorial, which council hopes will be completed by 2016, would honor the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, in addition to brave men and women that have put their lives on the line as first responders or as a members of the military.

Two sites have been proposed before council as possible location sites for the memorial, but council has not made any final decisions. The board hopes to pick a location that proves large enough, with a great view from the street, and access to adequate and close parking.
The memorial, which will feature a pentagon shape made of bricks, encircled by paving and five benches, will be completely funded by grant money and donations. It is possible the borough may even place a steel beam from one of the twin towers in the center of the memorial, if the beam can be secured through local donations.
Much of the donations to fund the project will be secured through locals buying engraved bricks in honor of loved ones. These loved ones can be veterans or first responders. Construction based companies are also expected to donate time and material for the project.

The presentation, which was first given at the borough’s meeting on March 3 is in the very early stages and no definite plans for the proposed memorial have been set.
