Firefighters Extinguish SUV Fire On New Falls Road

An SUV caught fire along New Falls Road in Levittown Monday evening.

Firefighters were called to the area of New Falls Road and Indian Creek Entrance on the Bristol Township and Middletown border for a fire in the engine compartment on a Hyundai Santa Fe around 5:30 p.m.

Levittown Fire Company No. 2 Chief Ralph Gumbert said firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and the flames were contained to the engine compartment.

The driver of the SUV found out about the fire when a passing motorist alerted him as they were driving, the chief said.

New Falls Road was closed for a period of time as the fire was put out.
