Bus Bursts Into Flames On Snowy Route 1

A tour bus caught fire along Route 1 in Middletown Township during Sunday’s winter storm.

A photo shared by Michelle Perlman (@phillygirlmich) on Twitter showed flames shooting from the rear of the bus. Police and PennDOT said the bus stopped in the northbound lanes of Route 1 in the area of Fee Avenue around 2:40 p.m.

Bystanders said it did not appear that there were passengers on the bus.

Traffic going in both directions was severely backed up.

Fire and police were at the scene for more than an hour.
