Shipe is accused of backing into a veteran police officer and his patrol vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at Pennsylvania Avenue and Bridge Street in Morrisville Borough shortly before dawn last Saturday, according to authorities.
The officer discharged his gun twice at the car and hit Shipe in the chest, officials said.
Shipe then proceeded to drive off and ended up in custody after crashing his silver car near Snipes Farm and Route 1.

The officer was taken to the hospital and released shortly after the incident, while Shipe spent several days in St. Mary Medical Center recovering from the gunshot wound to the chest.
Shipe was reportedly driving a car stolen out of Bristol Township earlier this month.

The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is being handled by the Bucks County Detectives and the District Attorney’s office. When the investigation is finished, Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler will send a letter to Morrisville Chief George McClay that outlines if the shooting was justified.
Following the shooting, the officer that shot the man was placed on administrative leave. As of Saturday night, it was unclear if the officer has returned to duty.
