Forecasters at the National Weather Service are calling for bitter cold to return and bring the potential for a light dusting of snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Potentially record-breaking cold will overspread Lower Bucks County Thursday through Friday night, according to forecasters. Overnight lows could even sink into the single negative digits.

“Thursday night into early Friday morning is expected to be the coldest when actual air temperatures could dip to 15 degrees below zero in the southern Poconos and northwest New Jersey. Northwest winds in the 20 to 30 MPH range (and stronger gusts ) at the same time will combine with these cold temperatures to create dangerous wind chill values in the minus 20 to minus 35 range,” the forecast reads.

On Wednesday, the Bucks County Emergency Management Agency announced along with the Bucks County Health Department would prolong the “Code Blue” declaration issued earlier this month. The county will be in Code Blue  through 6:30 a.m. on Friday, February 27.  For shelter information, please call the homeless hotline at 1-800-810-4434.
