โ€œEvery military member and veteran deserves to have their service recognized and appreciated. Todayโ€™s ceremony is a chance to ensure each receives the distinction they earned,โ€ย said Fitzpatrick. โ€œWhile their service came during different points in our nationโ€™s history and their stories differ, what remains constant is their love of country and their commitment to its defense.โ€

Veterans receiving medals included Michael Hromchak who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and Edward Fitzgerald who served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Family members also accepted medals on behalf of Russell Helsley who served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam; Henry Mason who served in the U.S. Army and Air Force during the Korean War; and Lawrence Vogt who served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

โ€œWorking to ensure our military veterans and their families are recognized for their service and dedication is important to recognize their sacrifice,โ€ย said Fitzpatrick. โ€œFew things are more rewarding than the opportunity to individually thank a veteran or their family.โ€
