
A local trash man is be credited to stopping a fire in Bristol Township.
A Waste Management trash truck operator was driving on Crabtree Drive in Levittown around noon when he saw a commotion outside of a house in the 100 block. He stopped his truck and found out a mattress in the home was ablaze. The waste hauler quickly grabbed his vehicle’s fire extinguisher and put the fire out, Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

The family – including children 2, 3, and 7 years of age – were able to escape the house unharmed.
“The damage was minimal thanks to that trash truck operator,” Dippolito said.
The Waste Management employee was transported to the hospital to be evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.
