Joyous music literately shook Norton Avenue First Baptist Church in Bristol Township Monday evening during a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day service.

“I am free because of Martin Luther King,” Sister Ruth Lockett proclaimed.

Throughout the music-filled service, speaker after speaker talked of the freedoms King helped African-Americans gain during the civil rights movement.

Pastor James G. Evans III led the service and spoke to community members continuing in King’s footsteps.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick attended the service and told those that Dr. Martin Luther King Day “isn’t a day off but a date on.” He noted the good deeds many throughout Bucks County took part in on the federal holiday.
