Flooding, Overnight Freezing May Cause Trouble

After nightmare conditions on Lower Bucks County roads Sunday morning, ponding water and below-freezing temperatures are expected to cause more issues.

Forecasters and local authorities warn that standing water could freeze overnight and cause serious travel issues Monday morning. The National Weather Service also warns some streams could flood late Sunday night.

Sunday’s rain dumped record amounts of precipitation along the I-95 corridor, forecasters said.

Bucks County authorities reported dozens upon dozens of accidents when morning rain frozen upon hitting the ground.

After salt was deployed and the ice melted, police officers told LevittownNow.com of street flooding throughout the area.

Many schools, government offices and businesses are closed Monday due to Martin Luther King Day.

  • Sunday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 7pm. Patchy fog before 9pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. West wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • M.L.King Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 39. West wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
  • Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind around 10 mph.
