A contractor was seriously injured around noon Saturday at the Waste Management landfill in Falls Township.
The electrical contractor was working on a piece of machinery when an electrical arc struck him and caught his pants on fire, township Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said.

The contractor suffered serious burns to his hands and legs, the fire marshal said.
A medical helicopter was called in and flew the man directly to Temple University Hospital Burn Center in Philadelphia.
“He was working on a control box when there was a flash,” Dippolito told LevittownNow.com.

The incident happened at a wastewater treatment plant at the landfill.
