Eric Gana, 38, of Middletown’s Levittown section, was sentenced to four years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. He pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, dissemination of photos/film of child sex acts and criminal use of a communications facility in July.

The Doylestown Intelligencer reports Gana was not found to be a sexually violent predator during a screening process.
Gana was arrested earlier this year after an investigation started by Penndel police uncovered the New Hope Academy teacher was downloading and child pornography on computers located in his home.
Members of the Middletown and Penndel police departments executed a search warrant on Gana’s Trellis Road home as part of the investigation and found additional images of child pornography, according to court papers.

Penndel Chief of Police Joseph Sciscio, a member of the FBI’s Crimes Against Children Task Force, told LevittownNow.com in May that a search of Gana’s work computer turned up “nothing criminal.”
Gana admitted during an interview to downloading and viewing child pornography on computers located in the home, according to court papers.

Gana taught digital photo and video production at New Hope Academy, which has locations in Yardley and Doylestown. Parents of students told LevittownNow.com that Gana worked the week leading up to his arrest.
Gana has been free since his arraignment after he posted bail.
New Hope Academy is a private school teaches students from grades six through 12 and specializes in “non-traditional education,” according to their website. The school has campuses in Doylestown and Yardley.
