Contracts were agreed upon for the Boroughโ€™s Business Manager Christopher McHugh and the Superintendent of the District Thomas Shaffer. Both of these contracts are five year agreements.

The districtโ€™s support staff also gained a contract to the tune of four years, extending through June 30, 2018.

The contracts for McHugh and Shaffer are the first contracts with the district that either have signed.

The previous contract for the support staff expired midway through 2013, according to Board President Charles Groff.

“The support staff contract has raises built in,” said Groff. โ€œThe contractual increases for the support staff equate to a 1.5 percent increase per year, and the maintenance contract equates to a 1.25% percent increase per year.โ€

Groff described the deal with the support staff, saying, โ€œAfter lengthy negotiations with the support staff, we believe the new contract that we approved in good faith is fair and equitable for all involved, but we are also disappointed that the support staff union is still pursuing a grievance for reorganizing personnel to fit the districtโ€™s needs.โ€

McHugh’s contract will expire on June 30 2019 and Shafferโ€™s contract will expire on July 31 2019.

McHugh is set to make $70,000 annually and Schaffer is set to make $130,000 annually under their respective contracts,

โ€œAll of the contracts negotiated this year are reasonable for these tough economic times, and the board believes the terms will be financially manageable for the district going forward into the next few years,โ€ Groff said.
