A Bensalem man has been charged with breaking into the PECO facility on Mill Creek Road several times in recent months.

Robert Joseph Monroe, 36, was charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal trespass and theft. He was also charged with a single count of possession of an instrument of crime.

Police allege that Monroe broke into the facility using bolt cutters to cut a hole in the fence and make entry. He is also accused of stealing copper and tools.
The first burglary was discovered on October 16 and two others were found on November 1 and November 3, according to court papers.

Over the course of the theft, Monroe is accused of causing $8,900 in theft and damages. Monroe and an unnamed suspect took over 800 pounds of copper and other pieces of PECO property, court papers say.

Police identified Monroe through trail cameras and other security devices PECO installed at the facility following the thefts.
Court papers state the other suspect has been identified and he is currently being sought.

Monroe was arraigned before on-call District Judge Daniel Baranoski and remanded to Bucks County prison on 10 percent of $125,000 bail.
