A woman who lost her leg in a bus crash at Pennsbury High School will only get a payout of $500,000 despite a jury awarding her $14 million.

“State law makes many governmental entities immune from civil liability but permits damages of up to $500,000 for motor vehicle accidents and in other cases,” according to an Associated Press report published by Philadelphia Inquirer.

Zauflik lost a leg after a Pennsbury School District bus lunged forward in 2007 at the Pennsbury High School East Campus and ran her over. In addition to losing her leg, Zauflik suffered other serious injuries from the crash.

The jury awarded the $14 million payout in 2011, but a Bucks County judge in 2012 ruled the amount should be reduced to $500,000.
