A Middletown Township police officer resigned after he allegedly searched out about 8,000 driver’s licenses for information over the course of three years.

Officer Daniel Buckley tendered his resignation last week, Middletown Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla confirmed over the weekend.

The Bucks County Courier Times reported on Friday night the officer “had spent the last three years looking up about 8,000 driver’s licenses for information, such as ages and addresses. Some of those individuals were township officials, a source said.”
The newspaper reported it was unknown why the officer was conducting the searches.
Buckley started with the police department in 1997. A LinkedIn profile for Buckley states he was a member of the South Central Emergency Response Team, which is the local SWAT team.

No criminal charges have been filed against Buckley.
