The board voted to approve the $19,000 study to be conducted by Schrader Group Architecture. The study will give district officials a look at options for some of the soon-to-be-vacant elementary schools that will close once three new, 1,300-student buildings open in Croydon and Levittown. The two Levittown schools are expected to open in September 2015 and the Croydon school is slatted to be ready in time for September 2016.

Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee said Schrader Group will look specifically at Abraham Lincoln, Clara Barton, George Washington, John Fitch and Lafayette elementary schools.

The board also approved a measure that would let the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority evaluate the district’s properties.

Some of the buildings could be reused, turned into open space, leased or sold, board member Earl Bruck said.

The district is currently looking at options for new administration offices, transportation facilities and a maintenance center. Lee said one of the soon-to-be-retired schools could work. The district said in 2012 that Clara Barton might be a good fit for the administration and operations departments.

Lee said the district would like to get the community involved in the district’s future.
