The right lane on northbound and southbound Route 1 between South Bellevue Avenue and I-95 in Middletown Township will be closed overnight through Friday.

PennDOT announced last week that the lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. as crews work to install an overhead sign structures. Throughout the work, intermittent traffic stoppages will happen.

The work started Monday evening, according to PennDOT officials.
The work is part of a project that replaced the three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge over Maple Avenue. The reconstruction project has realign the Route 1 ramps to Maple Avenue, resurfaced the roadway approaches and ramps, installed glare screens on the median barrier and upgrade drainage systems. The over cost is nearly $16 million.
The bulk of the project is completed and PennDOT officials said the signage is among the “final items.”
