The collection day is a bi-yearly event that is put on by local police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

At the last collection event in April, 6,200 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription drugs were collected.

Over the past few years, Bucks County residents have turned in 19 to 21 tons of unused drugs, officials said.

The event gives residents a chance to safely get ride of unwanted, unused or expired medications that otherwise may end up being used illegally or in the public water system.
