The officials met to talk about the construction of the Wawa gas station and pharmacy and the traffic and parking issues that might come along with it, according assistant borough secretary Karen Kondrk.

After a roughly 30 minute meeting at the borough hall, both sides had a better understanding of the project that would occupy the corner of Bellevue Avenue and West Lincoln Highway. The property where the Wawa is proposed for also is bordered by Durham Road and Legrande, Bellevue and Park avenues.
Developer Tom Verrichia expects to submit plans for the property in the coming months. As of last week, the borough had not received any official plans.
Project Attorney Tom Hecker told LevittownNow.com traffic studies will have to be done at the site before plans are submitted.

The proposed Wawa convenience store would be roughly 4,000-square-feet and would feature several gas pumps closest to heavily traveled West Lincoln Highway. The developer hopes to purchase several businesses along West Lincoln Highway, knock the buildings down and use the land for the Wawa. A pharmacy would also be build next to the Wawa. Hecker said they have a very interested pharmacy that would like to rent the building, but he refused to name the company.
Hecker said the plan includes tearing down the old PECO building near the train tracks. He said soil tests performed earlier this year showed the soil quality is “not great” near the building, but he believes the issues can be resolved.

Verrichia received official approval from Wawa in July to construct the store if the borough officials approved it.
