The mother of a child that attends the school became “irate” during a verbal altercation with the principal and walked toward a hallway that houses students around 3:15 p.m., Acting Chief of Police Lt. John Godzieba said.

The mother was known to police to have caused problems at the school in the past, according to the acting chief.
A responding officer wrote in a police report that the woman was upset she could not take her child from class without a note.
Both police and school district officials confirm the Haines Road building was locked down for a short period of time.

“Students and staff executed the lockdown very well and that allowed school operations to resume quickly,” Superintendent Dr. Sam Lee told LevittownNow.com.
Lee said the school administration made the right move to protect students.
