Strouse Presents To-Do List for Congress

Democratic congressional candidate Kevin Strouse unveiled his to-do list for Congress, which returned last week from a summer recess.

In a statement, the Strouse campaign said the goal of the list is to get Republican Congressman “Mike Fitzpatrick and this dysfunctional Republican Congress to finally get something done to help the middle class.”

The list was released before a small crowd inside Strouse’s Mill Street, Bristol campaign office recently.

Here’s what Stouse’s list included:

• End subsidies for big oil
• Raise the minimum wage
• Ban member of Congress from becoming lobbyist
• Make college more affordable

“Today, I’m calling on Congressman Fitzpatrick to support these simple steps so that we can begin to get our country back on the right track,” Strouse said.

The former Army Ranger and CIA employee said the list shows his priorities.

The Strouse campaign has called out Fitzpatrick recently for not holding any town hall meetings in the district during congress’ five-week summer recess.

Sam Bolstein, campaign coordinator for Fitzpatrick, cited the congressman’s “100 Businesses in 100 Days” tour when asked about the lack of public town halls. The business visits gave the congressman the opportunity to hear firsthand how local businesses are sustaining jobs, increasing opportunity for area families and to learn how government can further empower them, his office told LevittownNow.com.

Stouse and Fitzpatrick both live in Middletown and are campaigning for control of the 8th Congressional District.
