Garbage Truck Knocks Out Power in Levittown


A garbage truck knocked out electric service to more than 115 customers in Bristol Township’s Levittown section Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials from PECO, a garbage truck driving on Mill Drive snagged Verizon lines. The Verizon lines then pulled down electric lines and snapped a pole around 12:10 p.m.

Spokesman Greg Smore said PECO crews were dispatched to the scene and began their efforts to restore electric service. Power was reported to be restored to the area around 2 p.m.

First responders also were called to the scene. Bristol Township Fire Police blocked traffic until the snapped pole was replaced.
