Park Rangers responded to a report of a shot fire in the park. The report was confirmed by two witnesses who were fishing in the creek, authorities wrote in court papers. Rangers said they identifed Beckman as the source of the gun shot.
According to the probable cause, the park ranger asked Beckman if he was armed, which he admitted to and handed over the Glock 23 handgun.

Beckman told the ranger he had fallen into the creek with his gun and was helped backup by his friend and two other fisherman. He checked the weapon noticing the barrel had dirt and sand on it, ย according to court documents. The Bensalem man continued telling the state park officer he pointed the gun out over the waterway and discharged a round “to clear the barrel,”
Beckman told the ranger he did not know if there was anyone in the proximity of the area he fired the gun towards, court documents say.
