Chief Daniel Doyle told council earlier this month that he had $44,000 left in his budget. The new camera system, which will come from On-Board Video, will cost roughly $23,300.

The previous system was purchased in 2010 and is experiencing problems as it ages. The new system will be installed in five borough patrol cars by the end of the year, the chief told LevittownNow.com.

Doyle said the camera system has proved helpful in prosecutions in the past.

“It’s well worth it,” he told the council.
