Contractors have finished reconstruction, regrading and realignment of Big Oak Road between Woodbourne and Township Line roads in Middletown.

Crews will begin work on Friday, August 18 to install drainage culverts, a drainage swale, complete the edge of road restoration and transition grading and install the guiderail, according to information from Middletown officials. The road will receive its final pave and line striping shortly after.

Township Line Road between the railroad tracks and Lower Makefield border will be milled and repaved as part of the project.
Officials said a Casino Redevelopment Grant worth $700,000 and a $339,000 state grant will pay for the undertaking. Middletown Board of Supervisors Chairman Pat Mallon said left over money will pay for the improvements to Middletown side of Township Line Road.

A half-mile section of the road, part of which lies in a flood plain, will be 16-inches thick when completed. Zoning Director Pat Duffy told LevittownNow.com in June that a foot of concrete and several inches of asphalt will help stop erosion of the road.
